Kimberly Musial, Artistic Director and Violist

Luminous Sounds is led by artistic director and violist Kimberly Musial. Kimberly began her musical studies at the age of eight. Since then, Kimberly and her viola have traveled the world, playing in a diverse selection of noted professional orchestras and music festivals, at famed venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Verizon Center, and under some of the world’s most renowned conductors like Kurt Masur and Andre Previn.

With this wide range of musical knowledge and experience, Kimberly built Luminous Sounds into Long Island’s premier modern string quartet. She hand-selects highly skilled musicians who work exceptionally well together and who practice together regularly. Kimberly leads extensive rehearsals so that Luminous Sounds is perfectly prepared for every event, whether it’s an intimate dinner party, an idyllic wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, or a corporate event for hundreds of guests.

Along with leading Luminous Sounds, Kimberly enjoys an active freelance career, which introduces her to new musicians who can help expand Luminous Sounds’ ever-growing repertoire. She also teaches private viola and violin lessons at her studio in Suffolk County. Kimberly strongly believes in introducing young people to string music, whether it’s through teaching lessons or performing modern popular music on strings with Luminous Sounds.
